Great Books Get Lost Every Single Day

You wrote a great book. You obsessed over every chapter, agonised over every revision, and finally hit publish. And then, mostly, silence.

You are not alone. This happens to thousands of indie authors every month, and almost none of them understand why.

Here is what nobody told you when you were writing your book. Amazon has more than sixty million products competing for attention. Every day, thousands of new books get uploaded to Kindle Direct Publishing. The competition is not just fierce, it is invisible. Your book is not fighting other great books for visibility. It is fighting the algorithm itself.

If your book is buried on page twelve of a category search, or sitting in the wrong genre entirely, or missing the keywords that readers in your niche actually type into the search bar, your readers will never find it. It does not matter how good it is. It does not matter how many hours you poured into it. Visibility is a technical problem, not a talent problem.

Most indie authors do not struggle because their writing is weak. They struggle because nobody ever taught them how Amazon actually works, how to launch a book with proper momentum, or how to get a book in front of readers who exist outside the algorithm.

The truth is harsh but freeing once you accept it. You do not have a writing problem. You have a visibility problem. And visibility problems can be solved.

That is where I come in. From the deep technical discoverability work through to launch, promotion, press outreach, and everything after, I help indie authors turn invisible books into findable ones.

Wrong Categories

Your book is competing in categories where it does not belong, or missing the ones where your readers actually browse every day.

Invisible Keywords

Without the right backend keywords, your book simply does not appear in the searches your readers are running every single day.

No Launch Strategy

Publishing without a launch plan means missing the critical window when Amazon algorithm is paying the most attention to your book.

Generic Marketing

Cookie cutter advice does not account for your genre, your readers, or how the platform actually works right now in this market.

Wasted Ad Spend

Running ads to a poorly optimised listing is like pouring water into a leaky bucket. The traffic comes, but it does not convert.

Burnout And Frustration

You did not become an author to spend hours guessing at metadata. You want to write. The marketing side is bleeding you dry.

What Visibility Actually Looks Like

When your book is set up properly, the whole equation changes. You stop hoping and start knowing. Here is what changes when your discoverability foundation is solid.

01

You Show Up in the Right Searches

Readers who type in the exact words your book is about, they find you. Not your competition. You. Your keywords are researched, tested, and refined based on how real readers in your genre actually search.

02

You Are in the Categories That Matter

No more competing with three hundred thousand other books in oversaturated categories. You are placed in the right sub categories with a real chance to rank, be seen, and be picked up by browsing readers.

03

Your Launches Build Real Momentum

Instead of hoping people find your book, you are feeding the algorithm exactly what it needs to promote you. Every launch element works together to compound your visibility through weeks and months.

04

Your Ads Finally Convert

Because they are pointing to a listing built to sell. Not a random metadata dump you set up in a rush. Every element of your listing works together to turn a click into a sale.

05

You Know What Is Working

No more guessing. Every change is tracked, measured, and adjusted based on real data. When something works, we double down. When something does not, we change direction fast.

06

You Can Go Back to Writing

Because the marketing side is finally handled by someone who has done this for a decade. You write. I make it findable. Your energy goes where it should, into the next book.

A Decade of Helping Indie Authors Get Found

Hi, I am Francesca Finch. I am a book discovery strategist based in Scotland, and for the last ten plus years, I have helped indie authors across every genre imaginable turn invisible books into findable ones.

I did not set out to become a book marketing strategist. I fell into this work through helping a handful of indie authors with the technical side of Amazon publishing, and the results genuinely surprised me. Books that had been sitting quietly for months started moving. Authors who thought they had failed started getting reviews from actual strangers, not just friends and family.

That was when I realised something important. Most indie authors do not have a book problem. They have a visibility problem. And visibility problems have technical, solvable answers.

Since then, I have worked with authors on cozy mysteries, epic fantasy, sci fi, romance, children fiction, memoir, thrillers, and everything in between. Every genre has its own quirks. Every author has their own goals. Every book gets a strategy built specifically for it.

Game On Boys book cover by Kate Cullen

Working with Francesca completely changed how I think about my book presence on Amazon. I used to focus on covers and social media. She showed me the invisible side of publishing that actually drives sales. Categories, keywords, backend metadata. Things I had no idea existed. My discoverability transformed.

Forged in Space book cover by James David Victor

Francesca is the real deal. As a sci fi author, I thought I understood Amazon. I did not. She restructured my categories, rebuilt my keywords, and set up ads that actually converted. She promises strategy, not miracles, and that honesty is exactly why her strategy works. My series has never had better visibility.

I Work With Indie Authors Across Every Genre

Whether you are launching your first book or trying to revive a backlist that has stopped moving, discoverability is what determines whether readers find you. That is true across every genre and every stage of your author career.

This is for you if

  • You have written a book you are proud of but it is not being seen by the readers who would love it
  • You are about to launch and want to do it properly, not just hit publish and hope
  • You have a backlist of published books that are underperforming and you know something is wrong
  • You are running Amazon Ads but they are not converting the way you thought they would
  • You have tried marketing courses and are more confused than when you started
  • You want to focus on writing your next book, not on figuring out metadata rabbit holes
  • You are serious about treating your writing as a business, not just a hobby
  • You want honest strategy from someone experienced, not marketing hype from someone selling courses
  • You want a real person handling your book, not an agency assistant working from a template

This is not for you if

  • You are expecting guaranteed sales or reviews, no honest strategist can promise those things
  • Your book is AI generated and unpolished, no marketing can fix weak or unedited content
  • You believe covers alone will sell your book without any of the technical work behind the scenes
  • You want quick fixes rather than sustainable strategy that compounds over months
  • You are not open to learning what your listing actually needs and why it matters
  • You are looking for someone to do one hundred percent of the work with zero input from you
  • You want to argue about the basics of how Amazon works instead of trusting the process
  • You need someone to validate your existing choices rather than tell you the honest truth

What Actually Happens When We Work Together

This is what I mean by the invisible work of book discovery. Here is a small window into the kinds of things I look at, dig through, and rebuild for every author I work with.

Keyword research spreadsheet with data and search terms

Deep Keyword Research

Every keyword in every backend slot gets tested against real search data from your genre. I use Publisher Rocket, KDSPY, manual competitor analysis, and Amazon own search suggestion data to build a keyword list that actually reflects how readers search for books like yours.

Category tree diagram showing Amazon book categories

Category Tree Mapping

I map every possible category your book could sit in, then evaluate each one for competition level, ranking potential, and reader relevance. Then I request placement through Amazon official channels to get you into the exact categories where your readers browse.

Competitor books comparison chart

Competitor Deep Dives

The top twenty ranking books in your sub genre get analysed for their metadata, positioning, cover conventions, blurb structure, and pricing strategy. Every pattern that emerges tells us something about what your readers respond to.

KDP metadata fields being edited

Metadata Reconstruction

Every backend field on your KDP listing gets reviewed and rebuilt. Title, subtitle, series information, contributors, description, categories, keywords, age range if applicable. Every field matters and most books have at least three or four fields that are actively hurting them.

Amazon Ads dashboard with campaign performance data

Amazon Ads Setup

Ad campaigns are built from scratch around your rebuilt keyword strategy. Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brand, and Sponsored Display campaigns work together. Every campaign gets monitored, tested, and refined based on real conversion data.

Performance tracking dashboard with graphs

Ongoing Performance Tracking

Once changes are live, I monitor category rankings, keyword positions, sales velocity, ad performance, and read through rates. Weekly reports keep you informed. When patterns emerge, we adjust fast. Nothing gets set and forgotten.

The Indie Author Amazon Visibility Audit Checklist

A free, downloadable PDF walking you through the exact checks I run when I audit an author Amazon listing. Categories. Keywords. Metadata. Cover positioning. Blurb structure. Ad conversion patterns. All the things nobody tells you to look at when you are trying to figure out why your book is not selling.

This is not a lead magnet trap. There is no email signup wall. No sales sequence. Just the checklist, free to download and use for your own book right now.

Things I Believe About Indie Publishing

After ten plus years of doing this work, I have opinions. These are some of them.

01

Most authors overinvest in covers and underinvest in metadata

Your cover matters, of course it does. But if your categories and keywords are wrong, the most beautiful cover in the world will not save you. Nobody is seeing your cover in the first place.

02

Amazon Ads without proper metadata is a money bonfire

Paying to drive traffic to a poorly optimised listing is one of the fastest ways to lose money in indie publishing. Fix the listing first. Run ads second.

03

Social media is not a substitute for discoverability

You can post on TikTok every day for a year and still have a book that nobody can find on Amazon. Social media supplements discoverability. It does not replace it.

04

Launch windows matter more than most authors realise

Amazon algorithm pays disproportionate attention to your first thirty to sixty days. A weak launch buries a book that might otherwise have thrived. A strong launch creates momentum that lasts.

05

Going wide is a strategy, not a default

Going wide can be brilliant for the right author. It can also be a distraction from focused KDP Select strategy. The decision should be based on data, not fear or fashion.

06

Reviews follow visibility, not the other way around

Authors obsess about getting reviews and often miss that reviews are downstream of visibility. If nobody sees your book, nobody reviews it. Fix visibility first and reviews start showing up.

Stop Guessing. Start Getting Found.

A free look at your book is the fastest way to see what is holding you back. No obligation. No pitch. No pressure. Just clarity on what your book actually needs.
